Pharmacognosy, Degree in Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences
Intellectual and social personal development of university students through collaborative group work, increasing their motivation by teaching knowledge about substances of abuse, interacting with their peers, as well as with students from other educational levels. The objective has a triple scope: on the one hand, university students develop learning by playing skills and leadership roles in the transmission of the knowledge acquired in Pharmacognosy, thus increasing their interest in interacting with secondary school students; on the other hand, secondary school students aim for the information to have a greater reach by being provided by their ‘almost peers’ and, thirdly, in both groups of students, for the prevention of substance abuse to be more effective.
University students collect information on the prevalence and patterns of substance abuse use among high school students and the need to reduce or avoid consumption, informing them about the consequences. Given the perceived risk and visibility of the drug problem, the activity aims to raise awareness among students and undertake preventive actions in this population group, contributing to the formation of adolescents and young people with a healthier mind.
University students provide relevant and rigorous scientific information, which will enable quality collaborative learning focused on the prevention of a social and health problem such as the consumption of addictive substances in adolescents and young people.
